Citizen Involvement

TECHNOLOGY
My goal will be to investigate and utilize technology to allow you, the taxpaying citizen, a greater voice in the direction of our County.

How?

#1 - STREAM COMMISSIONER MEETINGS
I will consult with those in charge of the IT of Fayette County.
Specifically, you should be able to "attend" Commissioner meetings via the internet.

Is this a new idea?  No......

Marietta
------
Columbus
------
Milton

#2 - CITIZEN INPUT
I will consult with my fellow commissioners and County departments to discuss implementing a system whereby citizens, businesses, civic organizations, and churches can register an email address for specific addresses located in Fayette County.

In general, each registered email address will then be able to vote "informally" on important issues so that the Commissioners have an idea of how the citizens and businesses feel regarding specific issues.

Is this a new idea?  Not sure....

It appears it is a new idea, so it will have to go through a development process.  If any of you know of a system already being used, please forward the information to me. Together, we can make this happen.

#3 - INVOLVE LOCAL EXPERIENCE
When issues arise that require expertise, I will try to form committees consisting of experienced local business people and citizens.  People who have a vested interest from a taxpayer's standpoint.
For example, the County recently adopted a "defined benefit" pension plan.  Forming a group consisting of local business people and taxpayers with experience in that area could have provided us with much needed valuable input.

On November 3rd, vote for Charles W. Oddo, Fayette County Commissioner, District 5 At-Large
