The following interview was conducted by the Fayette County News. I reproduced my response to assist voters in making their decision. I am available as always to speak with anyone who wishes. Thank you very much for the opportunity I have had to serve, and I respectfully ask that you vote for me to continue the excellent course Fayette County has chartered over the past seven years.

June 3, Fayette County News – Charles W. Oddo
As this primary election winds down, may I first express my gratitude to the citizens of Fayette County for allowing me the privilege of serving the entire county as your District 5 At-Large Commissioner. It is truly an honor. And may I also thank the Fayette News for giving the candidates this forum during the COVID-19 pandemic to share their thoughts with the citizens.
Every candidate has her or his own style of campaigning. Throughout this campaign, I have been respectful of my opponents, confining my comments to the issues, focusing on tangible accomplishments, and expressing my thoughts looking ahead. I believe what is important to the voters is my record. The County has accomplished much. From property tax rollbacks and sound financial management, to badly needed infrastructure improvements, to the Sheriff’s new training facility taking shape, I am proud of my contributions to our numerous successes.
A commissioner must embrace all issues, not just one or two. And a commissioner must have the fortitude to make deliberative decisions despite the controversy that some issues may engender. To paraphrase our great President Lincoln, “You can make all the people happy some of the time and some of the people happy all the time, but you cannot make all the people happy all the time.” That, in a nutshell, is politics. A good leader seeks the best decision, not the most popular one. Paramount are the ramifications of each decision and the integrity of the Board of Commissioners in being fair, honest, and just to all. More than once I have been confronted with such issues, and in each case voted in the best interests of ALL the citizens.
Over the past few weeks, the Fayette News posed a series of wide-ranging questions. For voters who may not have seen my responses, I have assembled each Q&A on my website: www.oddonow.com/news-interviews
Similarly, the local Republican Party video interviewed candidates. That video can also be found on my website: www.oddonow.com
My website also provides an extensive list of achievements by the Board of Commissioners and Fayette County during my tenure. Success comes through teamwork, and I am proud of being part of the team. www.oddonow.com/accomplishments
You can learn much more about me on my website, and I invite and encourage readers to visit www.oddonow.com
May I take a moment also to thank my wife, my family, my friends, and my supporters who have encouraged me throughout some very difficult moments, of which there have been ample in this campaign.
Your vote will help guide our county for the next four years. Respectfully, I ask for your vote on June 9. Feel free to contact me with questions you may have. My email is: oddonow@aol.com. My cell phone is: 770-843-4034.
Thank you for your desire to keep Fayette County the gem it is, …. and
