YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON NOVEMBER 3rd
From my article dated 03.21.2020
We choose who we are.
I am not a politician. I am a citizen. I am a family man. I am a businessman. I choose to make Fayette County my home. My word is my most sacred possession. I am a 50-year resident of Fayette County who chose to run for elected office to help make our community better than it already was.
Four years ago I renewed my oath to the citizens to obey and conduct myself according to the law. I entered office with the integrity of one who practices the Golden Rule, not merely signs an oath to it. I choose to be transparent. Every decision I make will not make everyone happy, but every decision I make, I do with deliberation and deference to all our citizens.
I believe we must continually develop relationships on behalf of our community. In the two years of my Chairmanship, relations among our elected officials vastly improved. Since that time, I have worked diligently to improve relations with the State and ARC. Results have been dramatic.
During my Chairmanship, we resolved two monumental issues, the realignment of responsibilities for Lake Peachtree and resolution to the district voting lawsuit initiated with the previous Board of Commissioners in 2011 (for important information on the settlement, see my website: http://www.oddonow.com/district-lawsuit-settlement-facts-042716.html http://www.oddonow.com/district-lawsuit-settlement-012616.html
As Commissioner, Chairman, and now Vice-Chairman, I have sought to do my job well and do it to the best of my ability. I am a proud member of a team that has accomplished much
(see www.oddonow.com/accomplishments).
Other successes include passage of the 2017 SPLOST, responsible for many improvements in county infrastructure: https://fayettecountyga.gov/splost-2017/projects.php?type=transportation&status=completed
Fire stations 2 and 4 under construction Adoption of 911 Carbyne, "The first municipality in North America to advance its emergency services with cutting-edge technology to precisely and quickly locate victims."
Earmarked $2,000,000 for new Department of Health building.
Approved $1,000,000 for new Animal Shelter.
Statewide approval of Tax Refunds for Veterans.
Great strides have been made during my term in office. A sense of mutual respect has blossomed among elected officials and leaders throughout the county. The Citizens are best served by building upon this newfound respect and cooperation.
You can make a difference by supporting me with your vote. Early voting begins October 12. Presidential and General Election day is November 3rd. You can choose my positive record of accomplishments. I am readily available to speak with any citizen who wishes.
My allegiance is to all the citizens of Fayette County. You deserve no less. I stand firmly rooted in principle. When I leave public service, I will leave with my integrity intact.
Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Teamwork will accomplish much, and I am proud to be part of this Fayette County team.
As November 3rd draws near, make your voice heard. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
